1-Your Life and history:
I was born on May 27, 1907 near Springdale, Pennsylvania. As a child, I spent many hours learning about ponds, fields, and forests from my mother, who taught me and my older brother and sister the lessons of nature-study. I was an avid reader, and, from a remarkably young age, a talented writer. I also spent a lot of time exploring around her 65-acre (260,000 m2) farm. I began writing stories (often involving animals) at age eight, and had my first story published at age eleven.

2-your Personal Job and work experiences:

I started my career as a biologist in the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries, and became a full-time nature writer. My first book was The Sea Around Us which was the bestseller. My other book Silent Spring inspired of the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency. This Agency is charged to regulate chemicals and protect human health by Water, Air and Land.


3-Your Schooling Information:
I attended Springdale's small school through tenth grade, and then went to Pennsylvania College for Women in English. After that I decided to switch major to biology and went to standing at Johns Hopkins University and continued studying in zoology and genetics.

I’m a writer at the moment. I’ve never been married and have no kids. I was involved in many environmental projects.
